Who Is Venus?

Many attendees have asked: Who is this Venus whom we worship? Is she the same Venus who was venerated by the Romans? Is "Venus" just a name we use to describe the presence of Love in the world? Is she a deity we have invented or created ourselves?

The answer is all of these - and none. She is the Love which surrounds us, the spark of life within each of us, and the inspiration to reach out to one another in compassion and connection. When she reveals herself personified, we can learn from her how to give and receive love more fully. When we worship her, we worship the kindness, beauty, and divinity within each of us.

To dance and drum under the stars, to gaze deeply into one another's eyes, to find the fullness of self-expression through our bodies, to open our hearts to new possibilities, to assist others in finding peace and knowing their own worth - to know love in all these forms is to worship the goddess Venus.
