August 1-5, 2012 • Darlington, Maryland

Fires of Venus is held at the Ramblewood Retreat Center on 200 acres of very private land in Northern Maryland. Minutes from I-95, our festival is easily accessible by public transportation.

Once a summer camp for kids, Ramblewood has been completely upgraded and now caters exclusively to private groups. Each of the 40 cabins have full bathrooms with hot water, showers and flush toilets. Cabins also have electricity, clean mattresses, new lighting and ceiling fans.

For those who wish to get closer to nature, you can pitch your tent almost anywhere on the 200 acre camp. Tenters have full use of bathroom facilities in the cabins.

Other facilities include two swimming pools, a lake for canoeing, bonfire and miles of hiking trails.

Meals

While some people enjoy cooking their own meals at their campsites, most enjoy the community of sharing meals at the camp's dining hall.

It is unclear to us how the camp will be handling food this year. We don't think they will be bringing back our chef, unfortunately, so we'll be posting their planned menu as soon as we get it from them and hoping for the best. We will press them for an alacarte menu to be served between meals as well.

If you do decide to prepare your own meals, you should know that the camp offers no real solution for dishwashing or food storage, although they do sell ice in the dining hall. You are prohibited from cooking in the cabins or on the porches and you can’t wash your dishes in the bathroom sinks. Hot water is available to haul to your campsite.

Merchants

Merchants are welcome at Fires of Venus. For this event we charge neither a commission nor a merchant fee; we do, however, ask that you register with us to let us know to expect you. Vending space at this event is outdoors and locations vary from shaded to sunny. If you have questions, drop us an email.

Community Service

This year, sensitive to how precious your free time is, we have chosen to make Community Service purely voluntary. If you would like to help out, there will be a sign-up sheet at check-in. If not, you are under no obligation to do so. We want you to enjoy yourselves.
