Amy Sinatra's love for dance is inherent and shared with her sister, mother, and grandmother. Throughout her life her banquet of dance has included jazz, classical ballet, tap, a record selection and a mirror's reflection, modern dance, burlesque, shuffling, whirling around bonfires, Egyptian/Cabaret belly dance, hip-hop liquid fusion, cutting a rug at the club, Tribal fusion, old vogue and Gothic fusion. Drizzle on vintage and vaudeville aesthetics and it's so delicious with a Nouveau-cherry on top!
Teaching, learning, performing and evolving, she wants nothing more than to share her love of dance with all who know her.
Belly dance: Fusion essentials from head to toe: Belly dance is one of the oldest recorded social dances of human history. Although there is great debate about its origin, we know for certain, it is a form of artist expression that lends itself to a variety of moods and ideas. Sensual and delicate, yet intricate and dynamic, belly dance has evolved into a foundation that supports the layering of other styles of dance. Fusion belly dance begins with traditional Middle Eastern/folkloric fundamentals and allows other techniques through time and regions to blend concurrently.
This workshop is intended for all levels, whether you are brand new or you are looking to get some practice in during the week. Beginning with a slow and steady conditioning session using modified yoga for belly dance, we will reflect on posture, body awareness, and set our intentions. With a fusion approach, we will build our foundation by diving into the “nuts and bolts” of basic movements. We’ll also expand these ideas by adding foot patterns and combos. Please do not overexert or push yourself past your limits. You may want to bring water, a yoga mat, and a towel. Let’s have fun, and look breathtaking while doing so!
